How we write our guides
Our guides focus on the problems that actually end trips early: wet tent floors, cold nights, poor site choices, and gear that does not fit the vehicle. For safety topics such as tent heaters, wood stoves, and carbon monoxide, we follow manufacturer instructions and official guidance, and we recommend you do the same. When we learn a better way to do something, or a reader points out a mistake, we update the guide.
